EAST MALAYSIA / WEST MALAYSIA - 18 different 9M1 stations will hit the airwaves during the upcoming Asia-Pacific JOTA event on Aug 2/3. The scouts will activate their

callsigns again during the World JOTA on Oct 18/19. They were spotted first on May 17/18. KOSOVO - SCC DXpedition to Kosovo - YU8/S56M will be the call sign of Slovenia contest club team which will visit Kosovo in first part of August 2008. Main target is participation in WAE CW contest. TIMOR LESTE - In DX, word that PA5M is now active from Timor Leste as 4W6AAB for about 5 weeks. His activity will be limited to his spare time using only a 100 watts and a vertical. He has been heard on 20 meters around 14.047 MHz between 0530-0615 U-T-C. His QSL Manager is PA7FM. (TNX F5NQL).

BERMUDA - Angelio, IK2RZP, will be active as VP9/IK2RZP from August 5-24th. Activity will be mainly SSB and the digital modes on the 17/12 meters. DXPEDITIONS:

FROM ZAIRE - Dear friends - After a 5 years long stay in 9Q, Democratic Republic of Congo, my moving to the United arab Emirates is now confirmed. I hope to be there in next September. I’ve already apply for an A6 licence and, instead of the difficulties, I hope to get it. Even if my traffic is made in French language, anyone can contact me from 40 to 10m and even 6, . However and according this approximative schedule, I’m daily and mainly on 20m SSB between 0700 and 0800 utc , in the low part of the ssb bandplan and in the afternoon between 15:00 to 16:00 utc on 21.188, In the evening I’m between 40-10m according to the propagation. Be patient, i’ve only 100w and no directive antenna. No place now for 160 and 80 which antennas had been dismantled. Sked are always pôssible (see QRZ.Com).No Internet at home oly at work so my private mail is read before Servie, while the lunch break, and after 16.30 utc. Rare "IO67-Square" qrv on 144 MHz during PERSEIDS-MS-Shower by GM4DHF/p: My OYL partner (Jan) and I have booked a holiday cottage on the Isle of Skye near the village of Staffin (IO67VP) for the Perseids. I shall be QRV on 2M with around 250W into 2x7ele yagi with a good take-off towards EU. Activity will be part time (early morning, early evenings) as this is primarily a family holiday. PERSEIDS SHOWER - Phil, N0PB, EM39wo is looking to set up skeds for the up coming

Perseids shower for 2 meters. Looking for in particular anyone in Oregon or Washington. The eastern edge of Oregon is about 1310 miles, Spokane,WA is 1374 miles. Very doable distance. SENEGAL : The Senegalese SNRASEC arc 6W7PCT will air the special callsign 6V7SPACE, during tthe Spoace week between October 4th to 10th. A rendez vous is scheduled on the 4th of october for an air meeting between a class of the Grandcour school (Switzerland, Fribourg canton) antd the Scientific club of the Collège IV of Mbour (Sénégal). MICHIGAN LIGHTHOUSES - Operators Doug/KD8CAO and John/K8YSE will activate the Grand Haven South Pierhead Inner (USA-1077) and Grand Haven South Pierhead Outer (USA-1078, WW Loc. EN63VB) Michigan Lighthouses during the ARLHS 2008 National Lighthouse-Lightship Week, August 2-9th. Operation from Grand Haven will be on August 2nd. On August 3rd, they will try to activate other Lake Michigan lighthouses. Look for them on all HF bands. Satellite operations on AO-51, SO-50 and AO-27 are a possibility. QSL via K8YSE. ISLANDS NEXT:

GUADELOUPE & MARTINIQUE - Freddy/F6IRO and David/F8CRS will stay in Martinique and Guadeloupe islands between August 4th and 21st. Between August 4 -17th they will sign TO8S from Les Saintes Islands (NA-114, WLOTA LH-3998) with 2 HF stations, mainly CW from 80 to 10m (a little SSB and RTTY too). During the same period they will try to be active as FG/homecall from Guadeloupe Island (NA-102, DIFO FG-001, WLOTA LH-0644) for 3 or 4 days with one station, and FM/homecall from Martinique Island (NA-107, DIFO FM-001, WLOTA LH-1041) for 3 or 4 days. Stay tuned and watch the clusters! At the end of the stay (August 18-21st) they will be FM/homecall from Martinique Island with 1 station. Holiday style operation in their spare time. MARTINIQUE, NA-107 Freddy, F5IRO, and David, F8CRS, will be QRV with two radios signing TO8S from Les Saintes Island (NA-114) from Aug 4-17. They will work mainly

in CW on 80-10m (also some SSB and RTTY). After that they will show up as M/homecall from Martinique (NA-107) working with one station "holiday style" from Aug 18-21.

MALDIVES: Andrew, G7COD, will be operational for the fifth time from the Island

of Embudu in the Kaafu Atoll, Maldives, AS-013 using the call 8Q7AK from 08:00 UTC 12th October to 08:00 UTC on 25th October 2008. Using SSB and CW, he will be operational every day from approximately 07:30 to 08:30, 09:00 to 10:30, 13:00 to 1500 and 17:30 to 17:45 UTC. Spot frequencies to be used are 7.063, 14.147, 18.133, 21.253 and

24.953 MHz SSB +/- 10KHz to allow for qrm. 7.003, 10.103, 14.003, 18.073, 21.003 and 24.893 MHz CW +/- to allow for qrm. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using SSB, CW and Digital modes. NOIRMOUTIER ISLAND - Dirk, ON4IMM will be on a holiday DXpedtion August 5-16th to a location new L'Epine, Ile de Noirmoutier (EU-064, DIFM AT-020 for the French Islands Award, WLOTA LH-1224, WW Loc. IN86UX) using the call sign F/ON4IMM. Focus will be on 144MHz meteor scatter, using IC-746 and RF Solutions 10 element yagi. Mode will be FSK441 - CQ with QSY frequency, main frequency will be 144.370MHz. SAO VICENTE ISLAND - Luca, IK2NCJ will be at the D4C Contest station on Sao Vicente Island (AF-086, WLOTA LH-1976, WW Loc. HK76MV), Cape Verde Islands, from August 6-18th. He will do a Multi-Single along with YL2KL in the Worked All Europe CW Contest (August 9-10th). Luca will then do the SARTG World Wide RTTY Contest (August 16-17th). ARCTIC - DRIFTING BASE - R35NP is history now. The evacuation of the drifting station "SP-35" takes place since Jul 14. The nuclear icebreaker "Arktika" and the

scientific vessel "Michail Somov" arrived already two days earlier but due to foggy weather the evacuation could not be started before. Like reported earlier the drift began on Sep 21,2007, on an ice floe 2 km by 4 km big, but has today only the size of 300m by 600m.

The station drifted with an average speed of 8,5 km per day a distance of approximately 2500 km.

DXCC: The DXCC manager Bill Moore,NC1L, reports that in the last QST some

Honor Roll members were listed with a wrong DXCC count and others were

not even considered. Bill is very sorry about this mistake.

Excerpt from the ARRL Letter of July 25, 2008: The Board of Directors

of the ARRL acted on the Programs and Services Committee report, voting

to eliminate Rule 5 from Section III of the DXCC Rules which forbade to

publish log data. This rule conflicted with the "Open Log Policy" of

the CQ World Wide Contests when thousands of CQWW logs were published

last year. This should end the discussion about public logs.
